Your Support Our vision trips are a powerful way to link a diverse group of Westerners with the VEF African staff, mentors and business owners in East Africa. The exchange of perspectives, insights and experiences stimulates innovation and inspires hope for the future. Each vision trip includes a village itinerary and an adventure itinerary.
Adventure Itinerary. We debrief and relax while exploring East Africa’s incredibly diverse landscape. Each trip includes a wildlife safari to one of the continent’s premier parks, such as the Serengeti in Tanzania, the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda and the Massai Mara in Kenya. Other options include gorilla treks, mountain climbing, white water rafting, scuba diving and relaxing on white-sand beaches. Trips are 10-14 days long: 5-6 days in villages, 5-6 days on adventure and 1-2 days traveling in-country. Per person costs average $2700-$3200 excluding beverages and gifts. Join us for a Trip to Tanzania: July 5-19, 2008 You’ll enjoy several days of Africa's natural splendor while you take in zebras, lions, gazelles, hyenas, baboons, giraffes, hippos and elephants. You may even catch a glimpse of an endangered black rhino at the Ngorongoro Crater, a 12-mile wide volcanic caldera known as Africa's Garden of Eden. Thereafter, you'll spend several days visiting VEF-funded businesses in Central Tanzania. You'll meet dedicated business mentors who work with villagers to launch new businesses and see first-hand the positive change that microeconomic development brings to rural areas. The trip concludes with a visit to the exotic spice island of Zanzibar.

Village Itinerary. We travel to rural villages in East Africa to see how business training, seed capital and ongoing mentoring play a role in breaking the cycle of poverty. We spend time with business owners and their families and learn how income-generating businesses provide a path to self-sufficiency. We explore the local education and health issues that are interwoven with village economics. It's a truly unique opportunity to experience village life, cuisine, music, dance and culture beyond the reach of most commercial tours.
